these may have all been made in the early 70s --
before the boombox days -
so they were -
the first pre-boxes

RBJ... There are (have been) walkman-type units with stereo speakers on front and tape door on back that have am/fm stereo, record, and come with a real extension antenna. Is this what you want?.. or do you want a mini-mini boombox, with tape and speakers on front? Maybe a photo of what you have in mind would help.

boom -- will put up a few pix later --

but yes --if it also has stereo recording and one or two speakers in the front or back -
then we might call them VERY MINI boomboxes --
because the are the tiny walkman size -
no handles // perhaps a strap ---
but -
basically a pocket size walkman
thanks

Here are a couple of recent walkman units that kind of meet your specs. Each has stereo speakers, radio, cassette deck on the back, and an extendo antenna. However, unlike the big old Sony Soundabout (mine is a WA-55), which has a two-headed, stereo built-in mic, each of these has a mono built-in mic. The Panasonic RQ-A300 at least comes with a stereo external mic, while the Aiwa HS-JM450 doesn't. So, it's anybody's guess as to whether the Aiwa's external mic jack is suited for stereo input.

My trusty old Soundabout...

And an old ad for my trusty old Soundabout...
(Notice how the Soundabout in the photo isn't labeled "Soundabout." Something to do with Sony's uncertainity about what name to use in the U.S. market.. Euro WA-55's didn't carry the Soundabout name.)

Ahhh, sadly this one is from the inner sanctum of the AO collection. Been after one for years, never ever seen another one in my life, luckily a board-member had it available a while back. Needed a lot of work.

To be honest, if I were you I'd look for a Sony WA-8800, which is a far superior unit to the Aiiwa unit in sound/build quality & there are many more around.
