I can not belive how into boomboxes ive got in just a couple of months.
What started out as "Just wanna get somthing retro for my new shed", has now grown from an initial purchase of my Amstrad 3 piece, to a "well it would be nice to have a 1 piece unit along side it", to now owning 6 boxes in total, to these are now getting really dirty in the shed, to "do these all need to go indoors some where?", to "i think i might have to make some sort of display case".
Not to mention reading this forum every night and checking ebay most nights and car boot sales at the weekend.

Wow, what did i used to do :hmmm:

Get those boomboxes in the house!

It is a serious addiction and it will be with you forever now.

What did you do without them before? Tough question, I don't even remember what life would be like without them and I'm almost as new to this as you are.

Don't let it get out of hand though. The key is to pace yourself. But, yeah, it can be really addictive. :-)

Agree! Vintage boomboxes are really "things of beauty," and there's an amazing variety of styles out there! Plus, as Ira says, you can listen to music while you collect... with sound that beats most of today's portable audio. It's all very addictive, so, while you'll definitely have fun accumulating these gems, watch so your hobby doesn't turn into hoarding. Boomboxes are large and take up lots of space and have a tendency to take over your house... and your life. Make sure you don't allow your possessions to possess you!

And don't forget to post pics whenever you get something new! :-D

Its All true on all accounts....its a life style, its fun, its addictive.

With the exception of cost and taking up space in the house, I think its a very healthy hobby to have.

Its cheaper than a gambling problem

Safer than cheating on the wife

It doesn't mean your out getting drunk or taking drugs.

There are allot worse things a person could be doing with their time.

Plus you get to B.S. with cool heads on this site from all 4 corners of the world

Rock On.

Couldn't agree more Rick,

We're in the process of selling our house and the only specific requirement I have for the new one we buy is that there is ample space (double garage, workshop, studio, granny flat, etc) for me to continue this delightful addiction

At the end of the day I keep telling everyone that it's my pension fund................
