I disassembled my Akai AJ-R205 to take these internal photos.

AJ-R205 main, graphic equalizer , tuner & deck boards boards, tuner section and tape mechanism:

Cool! You don't see too many connector-type speakers in boomboxes. I haven't seen any in my boomboxes. Looking at the other pictures, it seems that the cassette mechanism would be a headache to work on. Is that true?

Probably would be hard to work on-as you'd have to take out the tuner section and graphic EQ board.

The speakers look beefy for that size of boombox!
Yes Akai's -quite rare.
