Akai AJ-505

I'm looking to maybe purchase one of these. But before I do, does anyone happen know anything about this radio? Sound quality, bass, Volume
I believe it was made in '81 , can't seem to find any more information on it

Hi abadacus, It looks good but the sound is ok, It sounds more less like a Panasonic RX-5050 or a Panasonic RX C-41, Or a JVC RC-770. Is bass shy.
It does look nice with the tuner on the bottom.Hope this helps.

I've not got this exact Akai, but I've got it's bigger brother and have heard a couple of them.

Most of these Akais have got pretty small speakers and sound quite thin in the bass department but still quite nice.

If you can get her cheap it'd be well worth it, theres a LOT of model variations for this style Akai, I'm sure AZA will know how many,
but theres at least half a dozen models with upside down design. Definitely be nice to collect them as they're much more common in
Australia than anywhere else on the planet from what I've seen.

I dont have one of these anymore although i did have 2, i moved them
on after getting some of the bigger models as i felt this one was a bit
light-weight in comparison to the bigger ones..........

having said this i agree with Gluecifer, upside down Akai's can be sort
after amongst collectors and not everyone gets a chance to own any
of the models at all, so............... if the price is right, grab it
