As the title suggests this is my latest acquisition, recently arrived from Austria. A deal was struck on this box actually a couple of years ago, it was decided we would do the handover in person later that year rather than risk the postage.

The logistics involved in arranging a goose and its flock to move hundreds of miles meant we missed a couple of dates last year but this Christmas the goose found some space under those wings and brought it over.

I had heard a lot about the TPR-950 and i did have a poorly and very poor cosmetic 950 that i had stored in case parts were needed but i was still surprised at how good these are. The sounds is fantastic and the deck is a real joy to use. I may invite the wrath of many here but i like it far more than the M70, no it's not quite as loud but the sound quality is actually far better.

I will post some more pics when i have finished the detail clean but here she is, all the internal bits are done here, just some detailing to do outside:

I'd like to say a big thanks to AO and his generosoity in giving me this box, I'm sure he'll be miffed i mentioned it but i was extremely touched and had to say. I'll pay it forward Ao

Both that Aiwa and Cris are most excellent! I am surprised he actually had a boombox; I've always associated him with walkmans. :-)

Awesome box , I like the m70 but I love the tpr 950,none of those miserable sliders although these aiwa decks are no easy job to rebelt.

I think the 950 is pretty handsome box so I've had one on my mental shopping list for a while.

Well done, it's nice to hear that you're so happy with your 950.

Agreed

Not a ton of bass, but it appears early, so it's very warm at low volumes. And the treble is crystal clear and accurate too. There's a lot of boxes that "put out a lot of treble", but it's inaccurate gibberish. Not so with the TPR950.

And they got the Wide mode right.

Not sure why the M70 doesn't have Wide, the JVC 3090 does and it's excellent.

Absolutely, i can't really sum it up any more accurately than this.

It just seems to have something for every occasion, with loudness, wide mode, bass and treble controls its really easy to find a setting that suits.

He had quite a collection at one point FD, I have a few of his here now. I beleive he still has 6-8 specials including a couple of Litfans.
