So, for several weeks I have been giving my wife and earful about her Bose radio, because she moves it from room to room and I tease that she should have just gotten a boombox. So she finally had enough and challenged me to a duel w/my Aiwa (thanks Skippy...) So.... I found one song that I knew I had on tape, which she would also have on CD, that being Loose End's 1986 hit single "Slow Down"' and we were off. (for the record, yes, I know that a cd vs. tape puts me at an immediate disadvantage and we should have gone tuner vs. Tuner)...
Results? Well, I must say, I have a newffound respect for the Bose, not really sure how they push THAT much sound through those tiny speakers! And why did they never make a boombox? But I digress, the CA 30 was actually, technically "louder" but not as clear... The Bose was at max volume, which is a 99, my box was at about a 7 and I was drowning her out.
ps. According to Stereo 80s, Bose apparently did make a "boombox" at some point... Who knew?
