Need some advice here guys!

I sold a Toshiba on ebay in late October. The buyer paid ($80 for boombox, $40 for shipping) the first week of November and I shipped it around the 7th. I'm in Canada and the buyer is in Mexico. I was told to expect a delivery time of 3-8 weeks (Canada Post parcel).

The buyer contacted me through ebay the other day to say it HASN'T ARRIVED! :'-( He has 100 per cent feedback and lots of transaction history so I'm inclined to believe him.

I'm away from home but will be digging up the receipt and contacting Canada Post on Monday. Has anyone made a claim through them? All I have is a receipt. I didn't opt for tracking or sig on delivery since they added around $20, and I was already eating it big time on the shipping (in the auction I had the same shipping rate for both USA/Mexico, only to find out Mexico was about twice the cost). There apparently is insurance on the shipment though.

As for ebay/paypal, as 45 days have passed I imagine there's no buyer protection or other insurance on that end?

Advice?

the 8 weeks have long past --

my advice is to find that receipt --
scan and send a copy of it to your buyer
and to canada post --

at least the buyer will know for sure that you
did send it --

that should give the PO some incentive to
help you find it

This is a similar situation I faced when I mailed a Helix to member Hardmen. I mailed the boombox on October 19 and was told by the U.S. Post Office it would be delivered in about 10 days. In actuality, it didn't arrive at Mauricio's house until December 3. Most of the delay was after the package arrived in Brazil, so it could be that the postal service in Mexico is delaying your package.

If it's caught up in Customs, it could be there for 4 to 12 weeks. Call canada post and have them track it. If it is insured, there is an insurance number. If not, they will contact the recipient to confirm that they did not receive.

sounds correct especially mexico so if customs has it it will be a couple more days or maybe longer, i belive with all this drug killing mess more than sure they are going to be checking everything that gets delivered there :-/ :-/ :-/

Thanks guys, really appreciate the advice. I'll be digging up the receipt and contacting Canada Post to find out if I can get a claim started, or if they require waiting more time. Hopefully the former. As a seller and buyer, I've never had a box take longer than a month in transit, so this is new territory for me. As is shipping to Mexico. I'll be happy when this one's resolved! :-/

Very difficoult.
My LASONIC seems also to got lost.
But after 6 month(!) it arrived.

6 months? :-O That's insane, I'm thinking customs was jamming to a Lasonic for 4 or 5 months.

The problem was, the parcel got sent off on 23.december.
For sure it got stored away over the christmas days and simply forgotten... :hmmm:

btw: sorry, it was 4 month, but it felt very longer to me.

I've noticed with some parcels i've shipped internationally of late that they are taking heaps longer for some reason. Not even boomers, small parcels................
