Added the Lasonic i931x (thanks to BadBoyBill!! ) and two good will finds!

Sanyo MW200 - $9
Fisher PH-463 - $10

Yeah, I went back to that good will store and they still had that Fisher laying there, with the Sanyo now next to it, so I couldn't resist, lol!
The Sanyo works well, even the tape players play well. I haven't tried recording yet. The Fisher I didn't even plug in yet, lol I might paint it up funky and just use it as a photo prop for models to play with.

Photos of my collection thus far:

Yep! And if I keep visiting the good will, I'm doomed - lol!

I'd love to have a wall eventually. Even if they all don't work, it would be great for photo shoots!

That sounds like my plan - cheapy boxes at flea markets and such, and maybe a grail every so often, lol

You got those boxes at those prices at the Goodwill? I'm not sure but I think you live in NYC, probably has a much more bbox population than here in Minneapolis. I live maybe 2 miles from a Goodwill, now I might have to check it out over lunch. I have tried other thrift stores around here and the electronics selection is minimal and terrible from what I've seen. Gonna check out some local Estate sales around town this weekend too, but again I just have a feeling that there's just not the same possibility of finding any nice boxes around here vs NYC or LA, etc. Just gotta get my first random/lucky find for like $15 and I'll totally change my opinion.

I got them both while visiting my daughter's college in Glassboro NJ - which is a 3 hr drive from me. I went there a few weeks ago, and that's when I first saw the Fisher box. I decided against it back then as it was rough and I really like one piece boxes best. But when i went back this second time I could hold back when I saw the little Sanyo looking really good, and so cheap - lol!

The Fisher looks nice from the front. The battery cover is gone and the battery compartment is about as rusty as it can get I think, lol Also the antenna is gone. The Sanyo on the other hand looks great and works well.

This is a thread I started when I first spotted the Fisher:

I feel your pain. Between my dad and myself, we've only found four or five boomboxes in the wild worth having in the the past SEVEN YEARS. :-/  But, they are out there. It takes a lot of luck and gasoline though.
