Hi Guys,
First time poster here. I have been working many hour trying to restore my VZ2000.
I bought it about a month ago at a garage sale, and have since used this forum and guide to get her going.
But I have run into some really annoying problems.
1. It originally had a snapped cassette door pin. I have used cheap epoxy, but due to impatience and cold weather, it has not lasted and I once again have to open it all up again to access the cassette and do it properly and be patient. Are there any products I should be using?? I actually lost the small piece of plastic pin, but have a metal rod from a keychain which is pretty much identical, the same size I plan on using.
2. Before finding the handy strip down guide on here somewhere, I thought I could remove the PCB cables that connect the LP player to the PCB and in doing so pulled the solder a bit and made a small crack in the board (nothing near the circuits i don't think, just a very small one to the top corner. I have resoldered the joins on the circuit board to the PCB.
3. The LP player lit up, but only seemed to work when I pressed the reverse button. I have since tore it all down, replaced the turntable belt and pinion belt and gave it all a thorough clean, including the shell. Was very dusty and dirty throughout. Now all assembled, the LP player does not light up and there is no movement
4. There are some attached photos, one of the VZ and the other of 2 Miscellaneous bits I have left over, the cog/ground looking piece was loose in the unit when I got it, the other block I think might be fore the bottom headphone/speaker board on the bottom for protection?
So the positives are - It plays radio fine, both speakers work and the rebelted cassette deck works great (at least before I broke the rod right hand side rod and lost it somehow today! GAH!).
Just no power to the LP player which is a real bummer for me as that is what I wanted to use this for the most .
As per another post on here, I had a look at the 'leaf switch' as I heard it might be the cause, looked all fine, I just sprayed some contact cleaner on it.
I am pretty much at a brick wall as to what to do next so any help would be very much appreciated!
