I guess there's some truth to the old saying that the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree...

Last year I picked up a cool looking little Phillips CD / tape boombox in a thrift store for $4 which turned out to work fine after some deoxit to the volume pot. As a result, my 1 1/2 year old son now has his own music station and now it's time to make him his own mixtape to play.

Rather than load up a bunch of kiddie songs (got plenty of those) I'm thinking I will make him a Toddler Mixtape with a bunch of "oldie-but-goodie" songs that have catchy, clean lyrics.

Here are some tracks that I have put aside so far:

The Lion Sleeps Tonight
Here Comes the Sun
Splish Splash
Yakety Yak
The Banana Boat Song
Lolipop
Coconut (you know, the "lime in the coconut" song)
Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head
Rockin' Robin
Rock Around The Clock
I Just Called To Say I Love You

These tracks are all relatively short and I'd like to at least fill up a C-60... So I need more tracks.... Any ideas????

Very, very cute boy JaeTee!!! Well, since you know German I thought it'd be great to get in some German Children's Music and maybe get him to be familiarized with hearing the language?

How about some Kiddy Disco about little worms?

1000 kisses?

Bunny Party?

You get the idea!  ;-)

Oh, btw, you can go here http://www.zamzar.com/ and add the URL of the vids and get the .MP3 directly sent to your e-mail! I use this page all the time it's great.

Believe it or not, he did actually get the tape into that deck properly... :w00t: (he was fixin' the silence!)

So far so good in that area of the house, but I did have my Sanyo M9990 pulling bedside alarm duty and at some point he pressed play & pause on it... Unfortunately, I didn't realize it until probably days later and now the motor is fried.

He gets a huge kick out of pressing the button and then hearing sound. He knows where the play button is on the RX-5150, too.

I gotta pop out the record tabs on all of my "precious" recordings now...

Thanks to all of the toddler-friendly music selections you suggested! Between you guys and the fellas over at tapeheads.net I was able to easily fill up both sides of a C-90 rather than settle for a C-60. :)

The little guy heard some of it this morning and was bouncin' and dancin' around the living room. My wife was diggin' it, too.

So...., thanks again to all of you who helped! Here's the final track list:

Side A

Manfred Mann – Do Wah Diddy Diddy
The Jacksons – Rockin’ Robin
The Beatles – Love Me Do
Willy Wonka Cast – Oompa-Loompa Song

Richard Sherman –Supercalifragilisticexpialidoceous
The Beatles – She Loves You
Roy Orbison – Oh, Pretty Woman
The Drifters – Under The Boardwalk
The Chordettes – Lollipop
BJ Thomas – Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head
Harry Nillson – Coconut
The Beatles – Octopus’ Garden

Side B
The Drifters – On Broadway
