It hit me that not only was the tuner stronger than those found in new, home stereo equipment, but the amp was pretty powerful, too. You won't find any new portable stuff putting out that kind of power (or requiring 5lb worth of "D" batteries).
And then it hit me that the speakers themselves could be the weakest link. And that I was working at a place that sold speakers.
So my JVC ended up with a Dynamat treament and seal on the speaker cabinets, and some Alpine car stereo speakers that fit perfectly. With 93db sensitivity, they are over twice as efficient as the stock speakers were.
And that means over twice as many people can hear me from over twice as far away.
