Thanks to yahoo.jp I've procured a very lovely TRC-975. The most surprising thing was the entire unit was fully working! Both decks, including the autoreverse, the tuner, the whole kit and kaboodle which I'm ecstatic over as I had many hardships with my TRC-931.
The only fixes were recreating the little nubs that lock in the soft eject and a bit of general cleaning and some nasty damage to the top of the box. It was listed with the damage documented and I didn't think it would pose too many problems to fix, and it repaired up quite nicely. The strip along the top of the case had been unceremonioulsy broken along with the posts inside, like something very heavy had been dropped on top of the poor thing at some stage.
The posts reaffixed nicely and I puttied sanded, reputtied, resanded and then resprayed the top. Which made for a nearly invisible fix.
All that's left is to find a battery cover and a replacement door for Deck B, it doesn't show up in the photos that bad, but a cat at some stage has taken to trying to get to a tape moving in the deck. So theres a quite a few scratches and little bite marks in the corner of the door. If I can't find one I'll see if I can sand the problem areas back, but it is reasonably unnoticible due to the copious amount of wonderful graphics all over her.
Be nice to get her fully mint though, still, she presents very nicely:
Gorgeous radio, I'm sure you'll agree! But she also sounds really wonderful too. The bass is very strong and the only real quibble I could make is that it's not especially bright in the highs. But the overall sound is HYPER dynamic and really blasts!
The EQ is great for tailoring sound specifically for certain styles too. The first night I got her I went through the entire Run-DMC discography and every single track sounded fantastic. I hope the battery life on her is just as good as her sound and looks as this is now my carry-around box for the next few weeks, at least!
Rock On.
