I would like to say hello to everyone here--Hey all!

Lately, it seem like I have got the bug to travel back in time to when life was so much easier (granted, I was a kid!)...the '80s.

With the '80's tunes being played in the gym everyday, I feel the need to break out my mixed tapes and reminisce. However, I have no boombox to play them. The green Emerson unit with detachable speakers that made it through my teen years and college years, didn't quite survive up to this point.

I have been checking out this website for a while and look forward to learning a lot. *Surprise* I cannot believe some of the prices for these units!!

This should be fun!

Thanks for the welcome!! I look forward to checking out everyone's collections and projects.

The '80s in regards to music, television, movies hold a special place in my heart. Maybe I can bring a little bit of that decade back into my place.

Well said. Too bad we can't just time-travel back...oh well.

Welcome aboard!

Like you, it might be a problem (collecting) once I get the first one. How many--we shall see. Looking forward to learning more about boomboxes, especially the ones that I could only dream of as a kid...double cassette, huge speakers, big dimensions, equalizer, lights.

My parents still have their silver Sanyo M9** (not sure the full model number) and I asked my Dad if I could use it/borrow it, and the answer was a resounding no as he still loves using it. Sounds great and has lasted all these years.

:hi:

What else did you expect for answer from your father? :-)
You should know that boombox is first of three things that you should not be borrowed to others. :-D
The other two things are the wife and own car. :-P

Welcome and enjoy

You are correct! I didn't expect him to say yes, but it couldn't hurt to ask.

I could of started my collection with a boombox that we used a ton as kids and teenagers and it still looks great today. We were gentle as we knew to take care of it even back in the day.

I will begin the search and purchase process, which will be fun!!

Welcome and good luck on the search! I did the same and started off getting the one I had as a teenager in the 80's and 7 months later I think I'm up to 13 decent ones plus another half dozen non-contenders...so you have been warned!

Hah, that reminds me of an old bumper sticker I used to see around on peoples cars back in the 80's.
It Read:
My Wife Yes,
My Dog Maybe
My Gun Never!

funny the stuff people find necessary to advertise on the back of their vehicles.
