Here is a Lasonic TRC-951 that I got from our good member blu_fuz (Joe)

It needs a few things but for the most part it is a good radio. It has your usual paint splatter and dust in all the standard places!

Things it will need include:

Proper volume knobs & EQ slider extenders (if anyone has these parts, please PM me. BTW, 975 knobs will work as will slider eq slider extenders from a 935)

I started by pulling the back off, She was dirty inside as most of these are, but not really that bad. The speaker grills were pushed in slightly (not bad) and pretty much so everything was dirty.

The good news is all the knob pots and eq sliders are smooth with no crackling.

I pulled the speaker grills and straighten and cleaned them, dusted off the speakers and wiped out the inside. I got into all the crevices with q-tips.

She looks really good now, sounds good too!

I thought about helping out some by cleaning that 951 before sending it out, but that is part of the bonding process we have with these boomers.

It looks much better cleaned up  . If you are antsy, maybe send one of those EQ slider extenders to bredgeo for some replicas or try to on your own

Thanks BBB, Am I wrong at thinking you have one of these 951's?

I totally agree, cleaning brings you closer to your new purchase! I wasn't home from Vegas and through the door for 3 minutes before I was tearing into this sucker!

I might hit Bredgeo up for these. I have a few other things I need, like cassette keys for the Louder Blaster.

I don't want to have to mail him one of my 975 knobs though :-/

i like that box,but its a little too dark, everything is 1 colour,it needs a little silver to break up all the black, what would brighten it up is if you sprayed the selector buttons silver just to add a little colour to it :-)

Maybe Chris' cell phone pictures don't highlight how wonderful the 951 looks all "murdered out"

Actually Chris I don't have either the 935 or 951  some day when I find one reasonable and complete as these are very hard to get parts for especially the 951

This radio is interesting....Not a glamour box....BUT it does grow on you.

Yes, the 975 will always be the King of Bling but this is really starting to grow on me....Plus the sound is

i almost bought a 951 like 5 years ago but ended up buying a 935 instead because i just didn't like the black knobs and buttons on the 951 , looking back i was stupid because the 951 sold for next to nothing :'-(

looks bad ass now though :dunce:  kinda like a knight rider box .
