Here's a box that my friend found for me at the Thrift.
I think this will be my next project.
It will be a challenge getting this one to sound good because it has the notorious fake graphic equalizer.
There is no way to adjust the sound.
It's a blank canvas that beckons to be modded.

I never can understand the fake stuff. That's worse than walking around town with fake eyeglasses on.

You certainly have your work cut out for you if you want to make it sound good. It's a Soundesign. :-/ Good luck with it.

Hey, my Soundesign 4640 sounds pretty good. It is a replacement of the box I had growing up. I really wanted a JVC M70 or a PC-5, but it was not in my parents budget at the time. I tossed my 4640 about 10 years back, and I ended up buying a replacement once I started collecting Boomboxes. At least my "new" one can hold Stereo on FM. No fake stuff on mine though....

Any ideas what you are going to do with it?

I thought a fake spectrum analyzer was bad enough but a fake graphic equalizer really takes the cake. I mean, if you're gonna make it fake, why not make it a respectable looking 10 or 12 band equalizer. Why make a fake of a sparse and puny 5 bander? But maybe there is method to the madness and this is the special "movie-edition" boombox designed to be used as props and youtube smashing vids? :hmmm:

Of course you know that they were catering to the low income blokes that wanted that big box look.
If you were walking fast enough, who knew the difference.

Actually, after a loobing, the fake graphic equalizer functions just enough.
And with the ipod hook-up which practically brings it's own bass any way {in digital form} it's sounding pretty alright.
even with it's original dry paper speakers and no gasket. but we'll be switching those out soon enough.

What's even funier is that instead of "Soundesign" it should have been called "Soundslikeshitdesign"...
