Hi everyone-Here's a few photos of my 1981' Camaro Z-28.
I love this car and have driven it all over the country!!
I'm currently restoring it-I need to get 2 new inner and outer front fenders and get this thing re-painted!!
It runs fantastic.
I have a 260 HP 350 which is a re-built engine.
I wish I had the original 350 but it was only rated at 175 horse.

I'm thinking of building it up a bit next year.
Right now it's the body I'm going to be working on especially this fall & winter.
I've had this car since 1991' when it had 66.000 miles on it-original!
Now it has 220,000 but has tons of new GM parts!
Hey Fatdog-I just waxed it yesterday-It finally cooled off a little!!
Enjoy & have a super week-GB.
:-)

Cool

My buddies parents had a gold version of your car and we got to take it out cruising. Whatever happened to cruising, you 40 and over crowd should remember what I'm talking about.

Hi MB-I sure do but with gas prices and city restrictions it doesn't happen as much any more.
I know up in Minneapolis on the weekends there's some that still do.
I remeber doing that in Hopkins,Mn.It was fun-hot girls, hot cars, what more could you want?
These 2 are actually funner than boombox even! Unless you had one in your small truck for sound! :-P
Most cars had those killer cassette & 8-track stereos!!
In the 80's we had our Alpine set-ups-still do.
Getting tired-have a good one-GB. |-) :-) |-)

I don't know that gas prices have anything to do with it. I cruised 1-2 days a week in the winter and 5-7 days a week in the summer. Gas was $1.25 and my car got 13 MPG on the highway back in 1985. About 10 cents per mile.... in 1980's dollars. Now gas is pushing $3 a gallon... and there are alot of cars that get 30 MPG. My daily driver averages 33. My fun weekend car gets 30 mpg (MR2 Spyder) Again... about 10 cents per mile. 24 years later... the same cost per mile. Cruising actually got alot cheaper when adjusted for inflation.

Is it that there is more out there to spend money on? Surely there is.. but even with cruising I still managed to drop 2 grand on an Apple IIc and printer/software etc. And $150 on an Atari 2600 and games at $30-$35 a pop. A good boombox back in the day cost about as much as an iPod and a decent iPod dock does today. About the same as it costs these days for the same kind of thing. Not allowing for inflation.

And what about the local drive-in that sponsors "cruise nights" and all the baby boomers can get in their cars and relive their glory years. What fun! We wouldn't want kids these days to be able to have something to remember....so.... cities have been cracking down on this for 20 years. And crime has gone up. Kids will find something do to.... if they are not driving around in circles they will be getting into trouble somewhere. Trust me.

City restrictions killed our cruising, all of the cruising spots were cracked down on in the early 80's with the specific intent to stop cruising.
At least I still have the memories of the rides and babes.

Gee stopping cruising solved all the problems didn't it? They used all those stupid arguments to stop cruising in my town in the 80's. At least cruising gave the kids something to do that you could see instead of sending them off into the dark of the night.

Sweet ride you have there GB. The interior is very clean too. I feel in love with that year after watching the movie 'Fast Times at Ridgmont High' It had a Siver one that Actor Forest Whitaker drove. I pulled mine out of the garage and drove her around the town. The kids went crazy over my 'LUCY'.

Hi Adam-Thanks!
I love how they handle-I have Dunlop SP8000's on it-P245-ZR50's all the way around-Handles well!!
BTW-this car has been out in your neck of the woods before.
I went from Crater Lake-Oregon through Weed,Ca, and onto Yosemetie Park-love it out that way.
Went to Beverley Hills & Malibu to and then HWY1 all the way up to Monterey!!
Nice drive out that way!!
Have a great week-GB. :-)

Hi-Those little MR2's are very small & lite-I know they handle well!
I'm going to have my motor rebuilt next summer-needs nothing now-runs excellent-just pushing it up to 500 horse!!
I love power!
No racing yet-but I have hit the clover leaf at 75+ then used heavy brake & then proceeded to slide her at 55 plus the rest of the way-FUN!! Controlled speed turns are the bomb-especially when you can power slide out of it!
I'm pretty heavy on the gas when need be!!
Hmmm-maybe sometime!! :-D
Have a great one-GB.

"Fast Times at Ridgmont High",

[after Spicoli wrecks Jefferson's car]
Jefferson's Brother: My brother's gonna kill us! He's gonna kill us! He's gonna kill you and he's gonna kill me, he's gonna kill us!
Jeff Spicoli: Hey man, just be glad I had fast reflexes!
Jefferson's Brother: My brother's gonna ****!
Jeff Spicoli: Make up your mind, dude, is he gonna **** or is he gonna kill us?
Jefferson's Brother: First he's gonna ****, then he's gonna kill us!
Jeff Spicoli: Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it.

My cousin used to have a firebird with I think the 401, don't know if something was broke on his or what but you could set the cruise control from a stop and engage it and it would take off, he ended up wrecking it, it was black with that half the hood scoop
