I haven't shared much lately even though I've picked up a few boxes but I have to share this. I drove 105 miles yesterday to pick up a Panasonic RX-DT75 cobra box, the condition is shocking since minus the dust and a few small marks it's close to minty. The gentelman (60'ish and retired) I picked it up from said he thinks he bought it around 1993 to 1995 from the Good Guys (he's the original owner). He told me he only used it lightly for about 1 year then it sat on the shelf unused until now, it's got a lot of dust, especially behind the speaker grills otherwise it's extremely clean. Everything does work and it included the remote control however the tape decks will only play for a few seconds then they auto stop so I think it might be due for belt replacements. This is one beast of an egg, great sound, can get loud cleanly and it's very heavy for an egg.

Congrats don  a couple of pointers i must mention

! regarding the tape deck the problem could be those little micro switches at the back of the deck, give them a clean and your decks could spring into operation.

2 you can get more bass n trebble than the standard rock pop bla bla bla thing i can't remember how but the bass n trebble goes up2 10

Its a great unit i have had a couple of theese but i prefure the dt 707 it has slightly better speakers and beutiful surround sound.

None the less great unit my friend enjoy.

The cobra´s are impressive sounding "boxes"
Style and sound > note 1.
The "sound virtualizer" is awesome.
And they are loaded with features.
Really a future grail ! :agree:

Thanks Tim I'll give the micro switches a check, the tapedecks were never used and the box sat on a shelf unused for about 13 or 14 years so there's dust everywhere.

I did find the setting for bass and treble under Menu button in the Sound option except they named them S-XBS and Tone. I was open to either the 707 or the 75 and the 75 came avaialable first so I grabbed it. Really this is an egg crusher, I don't think there are many eggs that could run with it.

I saw one at the goodwill a couple months back, but it was just too ugly for me to act on it.

Norm this one came from your neck of the woods.
I'm with you on the dogs, I wouldn't buy just any box it has to be in good shape. I've passed on a few of these simply because they were beat up.

Thanks Johnny.

You've sold some beautiful boxes and parts the last few months, some extremely tempting boxes. I still have the 777 and probably will for a long time.

Hope the go karts are a blast for you, they can be a real affordable kick.

Many of the larger boomboxes that come from goodwill (such as my panasonic RX-CS780) does sound great. But I've never seen a classic. Almost all are eggs or black 3-piecers and virtually every one I've picked up has been sitting in the corner, stacked up and getting no attention. They are just too plain, too ugly, too common and were great space stuffers but I've run out of room already so anything I get has to be good or else, what can you do with 100 of those average goodwill finds that you can't do with 1 or 2?
