Hello People
Well today has been interesting, amusing & surprising!!
First up is the 'Soundmaster' an obvious nod to the Sanyo M7735L here
It didn't need much just a good clean & moreover, the switches were all unusable due to grime filth & tobacco smoke - very yellow..............strangely though the rest of the internals were clean!!
Now having done a lot more work on my Sanyo M7735L, I wasn't prepared for how 'Mickey Mouse' the lowly Soundmaster is inside - On removing the rear cover I was met with a sight which can best be described 'Market Quality' lol
As you can see, despite it's quite beautiful looks & apparent quality, all this melts away as it's pretty awful
Cheap everything, yet it has survived since 1988 when it was made!!
Furthermore, after cleaning all the switches & checking the belt (OK) I reassembled it cleaned it all up polished it etc cleaned & aligned the playback head - these things usually drift off a bit over the years - It also has a full size pinch roller & a all steel cassette transport............It sounds more than you could ever expect from an unknown clone brand & it looks lovely
Am well happy I bought it now...........
Next Up: I shelled out a massive £4.50 on this early 80's metal cased cloney personal Radio cassette player!!
Looks like an Orion or General Electric type to me - It certainly ain't made by WH Smith
Pffftt!!
Seller said 'All working' etc like they all do - Thing is, it needed a squirt of Servisol in each volume slider..............& it works like it was still 1980
Unbelievable.......not only does it play cassettes better than many mp3 players, the tuner pack works like a dream too!!
Came with it's original case & no damage or broken bits so timewarp really!
With decent headphones it's easy to forget how amazing these can sound!! This cheapy has no right to deliver a warm stable analogue sound with lovely bass like it does - You would simply not believe how good it is
Been a good day overall - I like these two machines a lot!!
