999 Frankenstein for garage

Been some time that I actually had a chance to work on a box since I moved.I had got a 999 from Japan in poor condition but I needed the rear cover for my gf1000 . To start with all the knobs were missing decks we're dead and the static when adjusting anything would make you crazy.... Over the past 2 days I was able to take apart first thing was to get into the pots fully disassembled them and give them a good cleaning after a quick power up still found the left channel to be much lower than the right so I decided to change out the amp section my back up played perfect so that was a good sign didn't have to dig further ... Also decks are not working but there such a mess anyway line in and radio is good enough for my use ..Last but not least speakers were shot on this box so I decided to do the alpine swap ... Man I have to say big difference in sound and looks .... So this box is now a great garage box will keep me company on all my automobile tasks And garage tasks here are some pics

Wow, looks fantastic! I now have 3 boxes in my 'garage box' catagory. All heavy hitters too :lol: But of course really only room for 1 of them.

that gets the evil boom box keeping seal of approval!.
the gf 777 series is one of the best and most bad ass looking boxes of all time after seeing this my shiat would go limp if had to look at the factory speakers again. the factory speakers in these are farking pathetic compared to the rest of the box , these deserve great speaker mods like you did . i love the black and silver models of these boxes , the silver only ones are too damn plain looking. awesome but plain.

thanks Floyd used these on 767 too they look good and sound is much brighter great to hear from you brother

The sharp 777 is on my list would you recommend changing speakers if the originals are okay if I see a box and the speakers are no good yet the rest of the box looks ok would it be wise to buy this box possibly cheaper and put new speakers in even though the new speakers maybe 8 ohm

in my opinion I like to leave well enough alone ... I change these because the originals are completely shot if you are going to change out speakers I would stick to 4 ohm like originals were😀
