Ad said it wouldn't even power up & it was being sold for parts. After repairing the power supply board & transformer, it did. Cleaning & lubing all switches and controls got me both channels. Both tape decks work perfectly! :breakdance:

The only thing thats gonna cost me extra is a new antenna ( one is fine for now.)

I think she's gonna clean up real good... :-D More pics to follow then.

Why are these less plentifull than the 777's? This one sounds better than my 777 originally did, pizeo tweeters and all. :hmmm: In your guys experience, what's the difference in the two besides less features on the 767?

Today is a good day.

New pics, new problems.

One blown outside speaker. Have two replacements, so the extra is up for sale or trade or for future considerations. Just PM me.
What I thought was dirt turned out to be paint spatters of some kind. Guess I'll just buff it off. ;-)

I'll have to come up with a wanted ad for some grills... :hmmm:

Congratulations! That's a great looking radio. Are those Black colored grills? As opposed to the blue colored ones that usually come with the 767?

Oh, just took a quick trip to stereo80s.com. Obviously, unless the badge comes off, I'm gonna have to find new grills. :hmmm: :-/

Hey Ken congrats on your purchase. I think I had my eye on this one but slept on it. I have both as well and dig the 767 more than I did the 777. Maybe it's because of the lack of real tweeters that makes it different. The bass is more punchier IMO than the 777. Just for kicks I used some 777 tweeters in my 767 and it really came alive. Enjoy your new addition!

Blue w/ green lables from The Dog =

Wonderful paint job!

I love all the comments about the 767's sound. I, too, feel the sound is punchier that the 777, a box I've always seen as lacking in crispness in the highs. This 767 has better highs than stock 777 cone tweeters with it's piezo tweeters, and it's bass is better, too. It's a thick, rich bass (like a Tele) that sometimes has to be turned down all the way on some music...kid you not! :angelic:

Not nessesarily (I guess.)

Jr. stated earlier in the thread that he made the swap (777 cone tweets replacing 767 piezeo ones) and it was an quite the improvment.

My opinion not to swap comes from having a set of 777 tweets that don't sound nearly as nice as the piezeo ones the 767 came with. In fact, the're better than the ones I put in my 777...

Yea IMO it gave it a clearer sound. Especially anything with vocals, cymbals, and high hats. Bass was already good so I decided to add some more highs to it. Volume was increased. It just sounded nicer. And I went with stock SHARP parts so I could keep up appearances. It's reversible so don't be afraid to try it.
