Hey There, Everyone:

So we were just getting back from camping up in the San Juans at Moran State Park, and look what I found at the Goodwill for $5! A Sanyo M9977. Anyone know what year this came out?

It's a little beat up and it looks like one of the VUs may be down, but it sounds great, has a straight antennae, a clean battery compartment, and isn't missing any pieces I can see. Sounds great for being a little thing, too. Still haven't put a tape in the tape deck, yet.

I totally agree. If I'm not mistaken, I have it's close relative, the M9978. Clean it up, Holly! I bet that VU is only stuck. :-)

Actually, I saw it behind a post on a table where some guy was looking at something next to it... I thought: "THAT'S MINE!!! Even if I have to make a scene..." I have never made a scene in a store before, but I was fresh out from camping and looked and smelled the part, so I thought a Jerry Springer moment could work semi-okay.

I made it over there in no-time flat. The dude wasn't looking at the boombox. I was like... MY GOD! THIS IS SOOO COOL LOOKING! I was at one of those Goodwill places that doesn't have prices on their stuff, they sell mostly by the pound. So, the cashier just said, "How bout $5?" and I said, "That sounds Great, THANKS!

So, it was interesting... I haven't ever seen a decent boomer at a thrift until then. :-) I think it came out in 1978.
