I Am Legend
its raining in florida today --
:'-( so there will not be another 'same old' activity--
chasing teenage hotties around the beach :w00t: :-P

instead --there will be a round-up of some sweet mid-size grails::
for a sound comparo

the entries wiil be 3 stock boxes...... blockbuster, tele 8200 and lasonic 920
with one mod job --an scr8 w/ m70 woofs

any predictions ?? :hmmm:

I Am Legend
ever do stuff thats so much fun --that you dont want to stop ? :-D
with SOME girls and with MOST good boxes ....... that can happen :-) :-) :w00t:

well --just to keep the game alive --i went into extra innings :-O :-)
and chucked in the ol trusty aiwa 950 --
which came in last -- loudwise -- but an EASY FIRST for the highs --with its
world famous detailed sound ---

i was gonna whip out my 9994 --but thats always a party killer   ;-)
----------------------------------------------------------------------

elwood is alot smarter than he looks :-P
the tele does have the smoothest music with the best balance --
not very raunchy, though --
looks like a box for an old man :nonono: :'-( :sadno:

the blockbuster has such a nice ( NOT deep) strong bass --
sort of an all around 'whats-not -to-like' entry :-D

the scr8/m70 deal --is for those of us cave folks who like that DEEP down
off-the-line GRUNT !!!!
the bass has that m90/kaboom type rumble --in a quiet way ...
ya know ==that distant thunder sound -- :-)
BUT --because its an 8 ohm woof job in a 4 ohm system --???i think
:dunce: ( its been 2 weeks since this implant --so i forgot the math already)
its not as loud as we want it to be.

so --------as somewhat expected ==the 920 is the most fun to hear-
its LOUD --its crude - its nasty
its like a c100f for midgits and/or poor people
----------------------------------------------------

i want to add --that IF we were not maniac collectors
with lots of space and stupid money --
and thus all we wanted was just ONE nice old classic boombox --
to use --for the rest of our lives :hmmm:

than ANY of these 5 sound terrific enough to provide happy times --forever
----sort of a ' cant go wrong ' thing :-) :-D :-) :-)

thats seems nice ira,

i sort of expected something like that,

and i take this oportunity to state, that im still getting to know

the sound from some of my boxes,

speccialy the hitachi, has a very special sound, you just cant hear it / understand :-)

fully in a short while, the more you listen to it, the more you get to know it and appreciate its sound.

at first i could not listen to its bass fully, now i can listen to it , and taylor the sound so its

still loud, punchy and i can listen to all the details.

all in all, its a intricate box, with a very detailed and hifi sound.

thanks for the thread

:breakdance:

AWESOME! Well, I would be a total D1CK if I bragged that I picked it...But the truth is I have loved the sound of the 920 for 25 years.

It is LOUD for a mid size box (only competing against other mid sized boxes)

It is crude!

It's Raw!

It's Hissy at high volumes!

It's heavy for it's size

and it eats batteries like Godzilla at an all you can eat bar!

When I want to fill a room with sound at a party this is the box!

Thanks for a fun thread! Now back to our scheduled programing

scr-8 and blockbuster are great contenders loud good bass the lasonic is loud the speakers that came with it really compliments very well the only gripe that i find in 920 is they should have put the loudness on a switch for some reason the added loudness on the volume tend to shed a bit of bass it would had made a big differance,, i am sure not all will agree but if you sit in front of a box with a loudness switch and one with built in on the volume run both at a nice volume not real loud make sure your bass and treble are at max the box with the loudness switch off then as you listen to both boxes turn the switch on and see how much more bass you will hear :-) :-)
