I did find a couple of old posts but thought I would resurrect the subject . I do mold making / resin casting as well as some 3D design. I have also had a lot of master parts for molds 3D printed and was curious if this is an option for missing knobs and such now that the costs are more reasonable ?

This has been talked about allot, are you offering your services? If so, do you do one off work? I know I need many little bits and pieces, knobs and what not.

QUESTION: Can you 3D print battery covers?

Never thought of offering services but I would gladly help if I can ? I have no experience with 3D scanning so recreating some of the surface textures may be an issue ( haven't tried creating textured surfaces before ). I use Solidworks to draw my models. Only thing I would require is good reference material and dimensions . The better the reference material the better the end result . I do this stuff as a hobby so charges are very minimal . And parts can be printed at cost by the interested parties directly from Shapeways . I know the parts would be very strong and could be prepped for chrome using the same method used to chrome plastic.

Some of the print materials are pretty strong so I see no reason why a battery cover could not be printed . And seeing some prices for NOS parts :annoyed:

This sounds very interesting. I'd like to hear more about this going forward. If it works out, I'd be happy to loan any needed parts for recreations if needed.
