220v boombox in US with 110v outlets? Sorry I’m sure it’s been gone over.

Sorry to bother everyone but I am interested in a boombix but it’s 220v from Europe and I’m in the middle of the US 110v outlets.

Aside from having transformer swapped(read when I searched the topic), is there any other way I could enjoy this boom box without tearing up the insides? ie, D batteries, rechargeable power bank or a different plug? Like a DC plug? I’m just throwing out ideas that seem to have been touched on from my hours of confusing searches. I don’t know the who what or why any of them would work. Just not electronically knowledgeable, I drag hoses for a living.

only been here a short time but thanks for any advice you can give. I’m gonna try to attach the power requirements listed on the back of that helps.

You can use a step-up voltage transformer / converter. These things step up the 110-rating to the matchng 220V for a european boombox. You can find them online or maybe at your local electronics-store.

for us europeans it's the other way round - i use a step-down-converter for my 110V-boxes.

What model boombox is this?
1: Some boomboxes have DC jack for second power. Usually this jack is near to AC jack.
There must be label DC 12-15 V. You can use some AC to DC adaptor with correct polarity.
2: If you don't want to open boombox and don't have DC jack, you can use it with batteries.
3: You can use some rechargeable power bank into battery compartment. You must connet to pins for + and -.

I appreciate the different ideas, seems this box only has power plug. I’ll post a picture. I really like the power bank idea and the step down/up if I need to plug it in. :thankyou:

From the photos I guess it's the following model: STR 5091
Sooner or later you will need maintenance and belt replacement.
It is best to find a radio repair service and take it there,
and they will be able to put a 110 volt transformer.

Whoa! I completely forgot to mention what model it was... That’s impressive. I will investigate the radio repair service. When I was a kid we had this local shop that had tons of vinyl, and cassettes and then started carrying cd’s. I was talking about wanting to get a couple boomboxes to a co-worker at my fire station yesterday and he mentioned they are still open and have tons of vinyl, cassettes and even electronic equipment for sale too. Hopefully that will get me sorted and if they don’t offer that service hopefully they can point me in the right direction. The store is called 7th Heaven in Kansas City if you or anyone is curious. I had never been to their website til yesterday. Last time I was there was in the late 90’s. Kinda lucky they’re still around!

Goodman and everyone else thanks for helping me. Still trippin about Goodman knowing what make and model boombox from a couple bad pics. Very cool.
