I've been on the hunt for a Rising 20/20 and the one common theme I seem to hear often is that the sound doesn't match the aggressive styling of the box. Of course, this means different things to different people - for example, if you're an M90 owner, you'd have a different point of reference. Wondering how these sound as compared with a Maggie D8443?

that ' point of reference' point :-) is very true PD -- :hmmm:

i had a 20/20 long before i ever found an m90 -

and i loved the looks --especially the big tuning dial lamp-
of the 20/20 -- and the sound was ok , also

but - when the m90 arrived -
my 20/20 was rarely powered on.

I love my Rising. To me, it has a nice, smooth sound that doesn't get too harsh when turned up. The bass response doesn't go very low, but can give a nice surprise on certain songs.

The best thing about the Rising is it is super easy to work on!!

I always think of the RISING 20/20 as one of the perfect blasters.

It looks astoundingly good, has a true ease of portability, a very even and large sound and super good battery life.
I really like the sound personality of the 20/20, the bass is more than adequate and I love the WIDE mode.
As Bobby says, she's super easy to work on too, which is a lovely bonus.

There are very few blasters that tick all these boxes.

Rock On.

There is no comparing the Rising to a Mag Power Player. The rising will mop the floor with an 8443.
I don't know what you guys are talking about mine sounds great and even when you figure it only uses 9 batteries its no slouch. Its a good box for outdoor use. the speakers have a long throw and the sound can be heard well from a distance.
Of course its no m90 but its a good sounding box in my opinion.
Get one if you can find one it will not disappoint!

now THATs an extreme worthy project --

the 20/20 looks with the m90 sound    :-O

...with the amp and speakers going into my 20/20 it will crush the M90 on power and volume and will be very comparable in sound. Stay tuned.... :-D

I agree with Z and Glue...the Rising has very pleasant and smooth sound, especially on the wide setting. It is not the loudest box due to it's low wattage speakers but the sound is very good. The overall volume comes up short considering it's aggressive looks...but as Superduper said mine will soon be cured of that... :-D

Honestly, the sound of the Rising 20/20 NEVER fails to disappoint me  , which is why I'll play almost any other box in my collection before I play that one. But that said, it's a great looking box I replaced very quickly after accidentally busting up my first one over a year ago... I've wanted one since I was a kid and it would be hard for me to get rid of the one I have now... Besides, when the tuner section is lit up and the LED meters are going at full tilt, it's a beautiful sight to behold.
