I was born in the mid 80's but by the time I had a job and money, boomboxes were old news.
I've always been fond of them, loved the look and nostalgia from seeing them in pop culture back in the 90s.

Finally it was time to pick one up for myself, so I looked for a while, online and locally, until I found this.

1981 JVC RC-M50JW/C
Bought from the original owner
Came with the factory manual

Overall the unit is in amazing original shape, everything works flawless.

Has some dust/durt accumulation around the edges of knobs etc but a minor amount of cleaning up and it will be flawless.
Everyone usually wants to know what the price was so I'll share, I paid $225 USD

Nice, I've never had one but always thought they were cool looking, congrats.
Enjoy it while you're thinking about the next one you want, lol.
Btw, you don't have to include the price but that's your call.
Oh and welcome aboard.

Wow! It looks to be in great condition! I never knew this machine had an echo feature on it. Today I learned something cool.

If anything I prefer the M50 because it's like having the M90 and the M70 makes together besides you have 90 didn't come out till 1982 so this one was really one of the first boomboxes that look like an m90.

There are two things I love about it no balance control and no miserable sliders so you got it made with that one. Plus I prefer the looks over the M70 .

Are the speakers the same? They're blue and same size? And isn't it a bit wider but lighter?

it may have been sold in 81 lad as i have seen motors dated 81.....i think the m50 is the model linked to the m90 and the m70 has nothing to do with them as it was an earlier model

The m 70 / m50 woofers are both 6 1/2 inch.
Both have completely different woofer but the m 50 woofer color can vary in color after fading but they start out a dark blue color.
