Hello guys

I live in europe where the voltage is 240V/50Hz. I'm considering buying a sony boombox from the USA that is 110V only.
I know I can use a voltage converter but there's also the frequency difference and I wonder if it's not going to create so "noise pollution".

The manual says than when running on batteries (10 D cells) the RMS power is divided by 5...
I was wondering if when using the 12V DC in which is designed to be linked to a car battery, the power was going to be the same than when with batteries or if it's gonna sound like it's on AC.

Thanks

Should be no problem as long as the correct voltage is supplied whether it's AC or DC.

When on AC the transformer provides pretty much the same voltage out as the DC so you won't be able to tell. If it's 12V DC then you would use D cells that equates to 12V, so theoretically the same power but ofcourse batteries drain so you might get the same power for a very short space of time but probably not.
Batteries and DC use the same circuit so I would think that the output calculations would be the same.

AC provides a lot more power on some boxes, especially 3-pieces like Telefunkens

It depends on size of the 12v power supply. Batteries can only pump out a limited amount current for a short period of time. A power supply has a constant output regulated by capacitors.
