Dear Boomboxery Today I was driving around just wasting gas and blasting some old school jams when came across a Yard sale...I saw what looked to be a sony boombox in a huge pile of crap so of course I stoped...well when I saw it said general electric.... it turns out to be a 3-6000...so of course now I'm interested so the gentleman asked me if I would like to hear it ...well that's all he needed to do volume was a little scratchy of course but it did work... so now I ask the question how much$$...he said he would take 10$ not even a blink I handed the man a bill and was off .....it definitely had its battle scars but when I got it home I could not belive the sound that came out of this monster ...so I started to take it apart again case was very dirty and had a lot of funky dust behind the grills but what box you find in the wild doesn't .....so after a full tear down all the plastic went in the tub for a good soaking...after that I removed the grills and gave them a fresh coat of high gloss black paint ...the face got the full treatment sand, prime and 3 coats of dull aluminum paint then 3 coats of flat clear...while open I gave the tape deck a look and all the belts were in great shape so I cleaned the pinch roller and the tape head ... put it all back together and I have a great looking awesome sounding box here is a few pics of this little resto job..
