Do they have a value? I'm in need of replacing one of them which broke off while I was trying adjusting the antenna tuning, as you said, and I was wondering if I can use the MW or the SW one found on the same board, because I don't really care about those bands.
Otherwise how can I replace it? I guess they are out of production...
Trimmer capacitors are widely available - they're still used !
so for FM you're probably looking at one in the range 0-38pF or something like that. The ones from the AM & shortwave section you're eyeing up will probably be only 0-20 pF roughly speaking, so i would buy a new one in spec from ebay.
Of course if you really don't want to spend any money you could remove both the AM and shortwave trimcaps and wire them in parallel to reach the 40pF mark, but then you'd have two adjustable screws...
Edit: i don't think these specs are hard n fast rules - you could try just one of those 'spare' trimcaps....might do the job.
