Hmmm.

Do all the functions hiss (phone/tape/radio)?

Does it hiss on batteries too (is it a 60hz or is it 50hz where you are issue)? which would point toward dried up capacitors in the Power suppl?

Bad ground loop somewhere? Or EMF interference.

Anyone else? :hmmm:

I have the same problem with my Crown 950, makes me upset! :annoyed: Even with my volume all the way down, I have hissing through the left speakers.. and they hardly have music coming out of them compared to the right side..

Hiss in an amp that old could be a faulty resistor. To know for sure, you would need a circuit diagram, the ability to read it, and at least a volt meter.

Its a bit of a technical problem there.
Some tech guy could fix it.

Looks like its in the power amp section.
