Cool uglies, VS... although I bet the JVC sounds pretty good.

Almost forgot one of my ugliest: the Electro Brand 7422.



This thing is so cheesy that the CD-like opening isn't actually for CD's. It's for cassettes. Fooled ya!

This is as they say is "par for the course". There are uglier boxes. The problem with the boomboxes in USSR (as was the case for all electronics) was that they were unreliable. They did not look good either. However, in USSR they would never produce a cheap stuff like they did elsewhere when the erasing head was made of a piece of magnet.
