Sonos grafted into a Hitachi TRK-W55e interference

Hello,
This is my first post.
I have modified a Hitachi TRK-W55e and grafted a Sonos connect inside, it’s my original boombox I bought around 1985.
I’m sure there are better ways but this was my first mod. I have linked into the tape input record deck but had to short the tape deck record link to enable the input.
I am getting some cracking and interference at low volume and it sounds like it’s always on.
It works very well and sounds great
Can I cure this or is there a better place to get to a line in to the amp?
The din socket on the back looks like it’s for output only.
Thanks in advance

If you use the tape input it is at low level you can use a simple voltage divider using ohms law. This is to reduce the volts from line level which is why you are getting distortion. You can gain some nice modulation to match the output of the Sonos just experiment with different value resistors. Below is just an example you want Output Voltage to be lower than 500mv.

Hi Hopey thanks for this.
I'm not getting distortion I'm getting a bit of interference when the unit is idle. You can hear some crackling from the speakers when no milusoc is playing.
