The fidher 480 has a shite locking system it's fine if your carrying the box but if you listen to it on your lap because the locks for the speakers are at the bottom of the box, sometimes the speakers fall of grrrrr, i have cured mine though with the help a araldite i glued the speakers on perminently it was pissing me of the other way.

thanks guys , so far --
asking ---
whats the negative --about shipping it all tightly assembled ???

A while back someone sent me a nice RX-C100 all connected together from Australia. When I got it the center section and speakers were ripped apart where they connect. The mounts were destroyed. I had a nice MINT box with busted speaker mounts.

prime -- thanks --
was it well packed and double boxed ??

my theory is--
that the double box --with prevent the TWIST effect--
-which , i agree - will break the speaker mounts

'Bama!!! Deep In Da' Heart O' Dixie
Ira!!!! DO NOT SHIP THE SPEAKERS ATTACHED....EVER!!!

Now that I have your attention...

It's not the "twist effect", but normal jostling and settling when shipping that does the deed. I wouldn't take a chance on any box, but, if you must, do it with one that has steel plate mounts on the speaker and the box itself. That's about the only way you'll have any chance of shipping it without damage.

If I ever buy a component box from you, just meet me at Tony's or JT's house... :-D

Just a single box with your average good packing job.
It was apparent that the box was slightly crushed under the weight of other parcels.
This incident is what drove me to pack that 5350 the way I did.
