I received this box early this month, it is my first oversea purchase, came from Hongkong. The seller did not power it up so I bought it in junk/as is condition. But it turned out to be nearly fully working. Everything work fine, except for fast forward/rewind which are quite slow/weak.

The sound is amazing, as most of you may have known. Looking condition is very good to me, only the cassette keys chrome finish is a bit worn off. I am very happy with this purchase, a great way to start a new year of collecting.

Enjoy some pics and have a good day men.

I had forgotten that the MX-820/824 was so much larger than the M9994. And yeah, the M9994's are nice. If there is one "perfect" layout box, it would be that model. The number of meters, the color of the meters, the layout of the meters, the nice backlit tuner dial, the top mounted controls with real aluminum trim panel (not silver painted panel). Plus it also has an input source control, a feature that practically no other boombox has (can't think of another one) yet, something that in this day and age, with all the various types of input devices available that back in the day, didn't even yet exist, is sorely needed on every boombox.

Thank you all for comments and inputs. I do think that the 9994 is one of the best looking boxes ever made. Neat and clean layout, also the build quality is very good too (maybe except for the cassette key finish, as I found them worn off in both 2 9994 I've seen so far).

About the input volume control, I can recall if they work the same but the 820 and the C9 also have this function/knobs. But I think it is the same function/feature that Sanyo put on their top of the line boxes.

I really love the bass on this Sanyo m9994. The overall sound is very good.

Below is the input control on the sanyo C9.

Are you sure about that? That looks more like a input level control for recording. On the 9994, it actually works like a source level control and you can control the level of a line-in signal for playback.
It is a typo. I was about to write "can Not recall...". I will check these knobs on the 820 to see if they are used for adjusting input volume like on the 9994. I've just checked the C9 and those knobs have no affect on line in volume. It's very likely that they're for recording only like you said (my c9 deck is dead so I can not confirm 100%).

That box in the middle, that's an 820? I don't know that I've seen that before actually. Beautiful radio. The 9994 is a great looking radio as well but man I really dig the looks of that 820. Looks alone are now putting that on my list. Any comments on how they sound???

Hey Trippy, that model has a feature that is not available on any other boombox.... see that small LCD screen below the tuner dial? I call it a flying LCD screen because it displays the station but also moves in unison with the needle across the dial.

Really? That's pretty cool. I'm surprised I haven't seen or noticed this model. Although the 920 generally gets all the Sanyo big box attention. I'm gonna have to keep mybwyes out for this guy. Very great looking design in my opinion.
