no argument re the scientific approach -- :hmmm: :-)

i am still proclaiming that there must be plenty of
'play in the system'
because even my most fubar m90 speakers sound wonderful

I agree. Most of the info I posted doesn't apply to a low powered portable system anyway but I thought i would post this information for the sole purpose of curiosities people may have of speakers (to use as a reference)

When it comes to ghettoblasters it wouldn't be ghetto if we didn't perform such modifications. :-D I considered painting mine as well, which are this "grey, not tan", drab looking m90 woofers (released with the yellow vu meter version). They could use that nice blue that you are using. :-D :-D :-D

ok then --i am happy to report that my local friend ramon/monchito
had a few moments :-D
to re-assemble my m90 a few hours ago -AND FIX MY DECK !!!

i am playing it now -
with the blue speakers just painted yesterday -
and ' i swear/ i swear :-) :-O  ' it sounds exactly as great
as it did with the boring tan color --

so unless -- you feel that your box needs to be very original-
then go for the paint job

it looks great but to answer some questions about the tan and grey speakers basicly when new i belive they were truely blue   i worked on one not to long ago that had one speakers that was half tan and the other small part blue ,,i guess wherever it was sitting sun rays were attacking the speakers and were losing its nice blueish factory color,, plus i have heard some with black but still the back is the light blue color ,,so i guess if you want it to look original that would be the way to go ..and for the chrome caps ira up to now not sure except i saw a website that has chrome paint and it was garranteed it was not aluminum paint so i am still looking for the site to see if that would be a good way to paint the caps.... :-)

Nice Job Ira!

As far as the the tan/blue... as you know I have had my share of M90s and I have come across both colors as well as black/grey which were
probably blue at one time

two sets of OEM M90 speakers are pictures below
One Tan/white the other Black/grey (i think were blue at one time)

: in file on line : : in file on line :

The dark ones came out of a JVC M90, the Tan from a Victor M90

well --i wish they were all OEM blue-
to me, anyway
it makes the overall design look more 'well thought out '

I never noticed this thread. Ira you did a fantastic job but I don't want to steal anyones thunder. I give the credit to nelsongf9696 and the mighty driptip for they were the ones who inspired me with the knowledge.

Two great members that I miss because I don't see them on this site anymore. :sadno:
