This is the unit with the grilles and blue speakers. Awhile back, I recall a well known enthusiast selling one, saying that it needed a motor, the tape played with wow and flutter. Having just picked one up , no movement in the cassette, could hear motor run. Automatic assumption? Belts. Took the back off, removed the circuitboard and found the rubber grommets on the motor were rotted. The head of the screw without the grommet supporting it, falls right through the opening for the grommet. The screw has a sleeve spacer on it to hold the motor in position for the drive line ,the threads on the screw areDSC_2024.JPGDSC_2025.JPGDSC_2026.JPGDSC_2027.JPGDSC_2029.JPGDSC_2030.JPG miniscule, say 3 to 4 threads at best - fine machine threads to hold it in place. If you come across one that needs a motor, chances are the grommets have rotted and will need to be replaced. The kicker? The belt is actually fine, but will replace anyways.
