The upper section with the tuner and volume control has it's own set of speaker outputs which are usually already very decently powered (12.5wpc, rms -- compare to 7wpc in an M70). The large amp on the bottom does not deactivate the upper section, as far as I know, so yes, as configured with the large bottom amp, it can power 2 sets (4) external speakers.

Not really. This behemoth weighs 45# with one handle, it all connects solidly together.
The A2 is a 3-piecer that is always 3-peices with no hardware to actually tether the 3 pieces. Additionally, when in carry mode, it splits into 2-pieces (center unit & 1-spkr in one luggage like carry assembly, and the cassette storage with other spkr combined in the other assembly). So presumably each carry piece is in the 20-something pound range.
