I love it when I get lucky, and I don't mean with the girls. :-D

Accurate symptom assessment is what allows accurate diagnosis. Believe it or not, the dial lamp lighting OK but no batt meter symptom was the tell tale.

Glad it worked out for you. On the hum -- check for a loose or bad ground somewhere, and if good, try replacing the filter capacitors -- in the ripple filter, then the power supply.

I thought it may be the rectifier diode or the capacitors in the power supply myself. Simply because there is no buzz when it is run on batteries. I will check the grounding first though.

Really, I can't thank you enough. :bow:
