Hi all,

Looking to purchase some outers, the original S-Woofers are still good.
Original piezo tweeters failed and replaced with 2inch 4ohm Toshiba TV speakers

Should I go with 2 or 4 ohm outer speakers:

Kenwood KFC-E1754 (Whizzer Cone) - they color match the chassis better...
4ohm, 92dB SPL, 35 RMS each,
or
Infinity Kappa 62.9i (Coaxial Tweeters) - they have better sensitivity...
2ohm, 95dB SPL, 75 RMS each

In regards to overall performance, which would perform better ?
(The music played mostly is 80s hip hop, old school, new wave..)

Will the highs be too screaming with the Infinitys?
Is it better to go with the lower RMS Kenwood to match the amp range ?
Will the tiny 7W amp be sufficient to drive the infinitys or is this speaker too hungry for this radio?
On regular listening I would just use moderate volume say 3-4W isn't it to tiny for the Infinitys?
Since the 767 designed to 4ohm speaker, will 2ohm double the output to 14W ?

Any suggestions and thoughts will help here.

Yeah thanks blu! the speaker upgrade bklyn did is the the best looking 767 by far.
He changed also the s-woofs.
But the additional 3dB in 95dB sensitivity is something to consider? as folks always stress it as important factor for making small amps pump more power plus the low 2ohm set serves this cause even more ?
I just need mids, has someone tested 95dB type speakers to get better results?

High sensitivity is the key. I'd stick as close as possible to the original ohm rating of the original speakers to avoid stressing the little (and very old) amps in these boxes.

A 4 ohm speaker with a high sensitivity (92-95 dB) would be a reliable solution. Remember, 4 ohm speakers already put the amps under considerable stress when compared with HiFi amps that often run 8 ohm speakers.

I have to say that I had the privilege to hear this box in person and it sounds beautiful.

A well balanced sound all around plus the look these Alpines gives this box is off the chain!!

Jimmy did an awesome job on this one for sure..... It's freakin' dope!

^ I'm doing an exact copy of Jimmy's 767 on my 777. I bought the full set of speakers/woofs/tweets off epay for $70 shipped. Well worth it in my eyes.

I never use my 777 the way it is now, this could change everything!

Good choice Joe. I did the exact thing on mine about a year ago and it sounds pretty good now! Better than it did. Personally I like the look of the original speakers better, but for the sound its worth it for sure.
