I buy'em, I sell'em and sometimes I keep'em. These are some of my favorite so I might keep them.

Pictured: Klipsch Heresy II, Pioneer HPM 100 (clear demo version), The Advent, KLH Model 5, EPI T/E 70 & Phase Technology PC6.5 (in center). I also have a Velodyne 8" sub in the bottom middle.

These are all speaker models that I have had and sold over the years and I was so impressed by the sound that I acquired them again....and this time I will keep......some of them. To me these are all mid-range speakers that sound fantastic when paired in 2 sets (4 speakers running at once) and a small sub added for some lower punch power. All are working perfectly except for the Phase Technology set, these need to be reformed but finding appropriate foam for these is a challenge and very expensive.....so might not be worth fixing.

Right now I have a Pioneer SX-727 running them, not a lot of power but it sounds nice.

Tell about the love for speakers! I have only 28 pairs. B&W, MK, Pioneer, Infinity, JBL, harman kardon, Martin Logan...the list goes on. Some have 500W, 250W, 100W powered sub built in like in the Infinity IL60, IL50 and so on. B&W is my fav..Have the whole Infinity IL series to IL 10. Infinity IL40 with no sub built in is one of my fav. They are hard to find these days.

I lost the capability to listen notes over 3000 cps from my right ear. This happened like 5 years ago. :bang: I feel terrible now missing all the fun.

Sorry to hear about that BBL48, have you tried those inner ear devices they are so sensitive that they can pick sounds that we don't hear.

I do know the feeling milosancho.

I've had Mesa, Acoustic Research and now I own a pair of Klipsch KLF 30s these are not your classic speakers. I do know that some of those 70's speakers do have a warm HiFi sound which I do Love for sure.

Someday I may invest on a nice classic system.

No I didn't do anything after the doc was trying to sell $3K hearing devices. Docs have become real business people these days. When he had more time to explain about the types that got wifi in it I thought I fell in the hands of a hearing aid seller.

Thanks for the advice! I will look into it. My kids were also advising me.

28 pairs of speakers?!?!? Wow! Had I kept every pair that has come through my garage then i would have likely more. But I just can't keep them all. What I have now is what I can keep and what sounds good to my ears.

Yeah the HPM 100's are something to be heard. I picked up the clear demo versions not too long ago and I can attest to the sound quality of these is very, very close to the wood models. I have both of them now and I listened to them side-by-side. The clear models do suffer just a tad in the lows due to the fact that there is no dampening material inside. They are very, very heavy. Adding damping material would defeat the clear look of them so I'll just leave them as is. I'm looking for someone who can make stands for these in the same clear clear acrylic to match.

Maybe some clear bubble wrap? LOL

Just how thick is that acrylic on those? I always wondered how they compared sound wise to the wood ones after I let mine go and saw these for the 1st time , so thanks for that.

NICE stack man!

Talking about JBLs I loved the bigger woofers on S312 and 412 Studio speakers. I have both of them.
They sound phenomenal.
Those large speakers really got some decent bass. No need of subwoofers when you hook it up to powerful receivers.

They mean business! I accidentally killed both tweeters by under powering them on the 312. Luckily I got the original replacement tweeters from JBL. Lesson learned the hard way. I could smell insulation burning and saw tweeter dome in golden color. Under powering fried the tweeter. When called JBL they said if you power them under 100 Watts it will blow the tweeters. What do I know...

Now I hook them to powerful beasts who have a min of 150 Watts/channel

See pics... not my pics.

I wasn't aware that under powering the speakers could damage them, the mysteries of speakers just keep getting more complicated for me. :dunce: The above speakers look quite classy to me, very elegant.

I got way too many speakers, more than anyone should be allowed to own. Probably enough to populate a small stereo store for display. The best and the favorites in my collection are the Carver AL-III, Carver Silver Amazing Loudspeakers, and the JBL L-300's (passed on to me by my neighbor just a couple weeks before he died from cancer) and lastly, the following TOTL Polk towers. I currently have this pair hooked up and listen to frequently. I wanted them so badly I drove 1300 miles round trip earlier this year to see, negotiate, buy and haul home. Even though the trip darn near killed me, it was definitely worth the drive and the sounds.... OMG is all I can say. It's a TOTL from Polk, approximately 200 pounds each, which is more than the washing machine sized JBL L-300's I own, and I though those were heavy!

The first 2 pictures below are my actual speakers. The other photos I swiped from the net but are representative of the other speakers I mentioned. I'm just too lazy to unwrap and pose them to snap a few photos.

I was lucky to hear those Polk back in the day and it blew me away!

200 lbs yikes!
I agree completely. I heard another set of Polks (slightly smaller and less drivers) a few years ago, owned by Restocat and was thoroughly impressed. So I patiently looked for and found this set, and simply had to have it. The owner had a wimpy late model amplifier setup for me to try out. When paired with a suitable beefy amp, they really woke up and the sound is simply phenomenal. Anyhow, you simply have to personally listen to them, to believe.

BTW, I was mistaken. It wasn't 1300 miles I drove -- it was about 1700 miles round trip (850 each way, not 650 like I thought).
