Hello Friends,

I bought myself another VZ2500 but the FM section from the tuner wasnt working well(bad connection) so i sprayed some contactspray between the knobs and the it started working but after 10 minutes the tuner stopped and gave only noise like you arent tuned in on a station over the entire FM band so you dont receive anything anymore on FM...the other bands AM/MW/SW are working well..

What can be the problem here?

I am sorry to say that but the contact cleaner might have gotten there where it should not go :-/ .
I almost filled the FM tuner of my VZ2000 this way. It was receiving only some station at wrong points. pressing a poti down on the tuner board fixed it temporarily. But as soon as I released it, it went away again. So I sprayed only a little contact cleaner on it and it was only static left. After 30 minutes the tuner came back and works perfect since then. I got lucky. :dunce: :-/
I hope yours is a similar fix  .

The VZ2500 is rather easy to take apart if you know how. Remove the turntable before doing anything else! It is held in with ony two screws. Then it pops out easily and has a cable connection you can easiyl unplug (one white and one black plug).
Member madbadger made a very good instruction PDF for the VZ2000 which is pretty similar from its basic set-up.
Sorry, I have no link at hand but it helped me fix my VZ2000 back then  .

Good luck!

I already said it a thousand times before, so I'll say it for the thousanth and first time:

When you use contact cleaner -- OPEN EM UP THE DAM BOOMBOX and spray discriminately. You ONLY want the cleaner to enter the control and wipe up afterwards. Spraying from the outside -- you need to use way too much cleaner to get any kind of result and even then, sometimes you get ZERO result. The only thing you can count on is that the cleaner gets on everything and anything and everyplace except where you want to. Keep in mind that contact cleaner is a solvent.

The tuner is a finely tuned circuit and relies on very exacting capacitance for tuning. Getting any inside the tuning capacitor could change the capacitance to where the tuner will no longer be aligned properly. Sometimes, it's temporary, but it's possible to mess it up permanently if the residue and film left behind changes the capacitance. So don't go anywhere near a tuner with contact cleaner. Suggest using compressed air to blow out the tuning capacitor if cleaning of that component is necessary.

Finally, contact cleaner is a very effective tool to remove oxidation in switches and controls. But you need to use it properly. Some people report good success spraying from the outside. But that's because the excess solvent left behind, the melting of the tape belts, the staining of the speaker cones, the fogging up of the inside surface of the tuner glass with a smoky residue, the accumulation of dust from the newly acquired tendency to attract dust -- none of that happens instantaneously and takes time to manifest.

Okay, thanks for the advice, next time i will take it apart first!
