SHARP GF-9191 with no sound from speakers or headphones.
The VU meters are stationary.
On the other hand, with the VU: BATT switch function, the LEDs light up, and the VU meter moves but nothing on the VU Battery.

An idea or a good advice to have sound?

I'd try cleaning the recording bar with contact cleaner and then deoxit.

Findings:

No sound at HP
No sound on headphones
The cassette engine doesn't run
The APSS LEDs of the cassette lights up
The LED FM works
Both light LEDs light up
VU needles don't move with radio

Checks:

No sound with DIN or RCA inputs
Power provides 17 V for 15 V at the exit of the transformer. Fusible OK
VU meter move at the multimeter
No grilled resistance
All diodes running
All the capacitors give the right measurements

Weirdness found

When the VU/BATT button is activated, the VU BATT stays at zero and tuning moves in the middle

Would you please have an idea of the outage and solution?

I had an Akai that did this.
Ended up being a bad output chip.
