i tried to strip paint of my trk 725 cassette door by leaving it to soak in brake fluid for 5 hour it looked all good until i took it out of the brake fluid it instantly oxcidised and turned matt white :'-(

I regularly use WD-40 for removing stickers, gooey residue and other yuck.
So far, in my 35 years of electronics I've not ruined anything with it or found anything that reacts negatively with it.
Yes, it is part-kerosene, and part diesel. You can make your own using a 50/50 mix of these two if you are out of WD-40 and have those two laying around.
Because they are both mineral oils, as opposed to solvents, they're quite tame.

Word of advice - never go anywhere near plastic with MEK (methyl ethyl ketone). It likes to eat it!
It's a strong solvent used a lot in the printing industry, and for some jobs it's perfect.

Glad to see you were able to get another door!
