So I'm currently working on another box and have a lull so I decided to take the GS-4040 top two lights apart to see if I could get them figured out.
I'm completely confused by them and are going to need a lot more work than I originally assumed.
They have bulbs that I assume are halogen.
I also assumed they were using 12v.
I powered up the box and took readings at the ports and have approximately 2.5v ac on the left side and 1.8v ac on the other.
Just for fun, I tried testing both rear ports (left and right rear ports) and got just under 12v ac and 0v on both front ports.
The bulb bases have 4.8v and 3.5a printed on them.
These were so hot, the one side actually melted the chrome ring black retainer and some of the orange lens.
I'd like to convert these to leds to reduce the heat and chance of melting anything else.
It's definitely possible something inside is messed up or has been messed with and is not putting out the correct voltages.
Does anyone know what voltage these are suppose to be running on?
