Need help with a GE boombox I just bought. I was walking with it and all of a sudden it just stopped playing. It's won't play but I know that's not the problem. I just have to get to the cassette and take it out for a second....The only problem is that the tape deck door won't open.

The stop/ eject button works when I hit stop...but won't work when I hit eject.

If you in the process of playing a cassette, I would say that the main belt has broken and now the play head is stuck in the "up" position thereby locking the tape in. More than likely you'll need to open it up and turn the flywheel by hand to release the play head. The question now is, what size belts do you need to repair it?

Welcome aboard! :-)

For whatever reason I felt like hitting the eject button and it worked randomly. I got the cassette out and I can FF RW, but apparently it won't play now.
