Here's another video of a Pioneer cassette mechanism used in the SK-71 and others. As I see more of these all the time that are starting to disintegrate, it may be helpful.

Great job!

I have an SK-71 that had to be repaired, too. However, my issue was more related to the belts, as well as the mechanism that allows the deck to go into play mode when you close the tape door... Part was missing and had to be fabricated.

That's a great video that will surely help some folks out. I think the SK-51, SK-61 and SK-95 all use that same deck... Maybe even a few others.

Very cool   Your video's are very informative, just one suggestion maybe to try and set up small stand for camera to get steady and constant video ;-)

Thank you!!!!
I'm having a similar problem,I have the mechanism going up because
I have the Thimbu inside the cassette door that actuated the lift
mechanism up but it won't stay in play as the auto stop Thing Is
Clicking when it's in play so it won't stay in play position
But it looks like the same little piece is bad in mine so I'm going to
See if it will pop back into place or to see if it's going to be more
entailed.
This is a intricate deck to work on!
Someone abused mine but I have managed to make it better
just seeing this shows that what I think is wrong with mine.
If I can't get it after a while and there is too much to dismantle
then I'm going to leave it to the pros!!
I can get the deck out no problem, just have to splice out about 9-10
wires to totally replace the deck from another donor like a 51,61!
Looking at a 61 it looks to gave the same functions totally on cassette
section.
I hope I can get this to quit stopping and get this back in order
myself!
Then I would be proud of myself!
But I won't get to carried away-this one is tricky!
Thanks again for the informative video! :-)

Just to post a little information here.
There is a functional difference between SK-71 and SK-95 Decks.
SK-95 has a 7 song search function.
Whereas SK-71 has a counter based memory rewind function. In order to make the memory search repeat function, it has an additional hidden tape counter which is not visible from outside. So I infer that SK-71 must be having a much more complicated tape deck.
