I received one of two Aiwa 880's purchased recently and will post pics tomorrow outside, I asked Ira about this one and seems to be pretty rare, it will need a complete resto to be 100%, but I only really care about cosmetics, radio, and line in. Radio tunes all the way to 108! sounds pretty good even as shiatty as it is!

Neat looking with all silver dial, body, and gray grill with some silly sharpie writing on it

yes -- the extra rare feature - is that the silver dial designs -
were the japan / stay in japan model -
-so they were all supposed to
fm 90 --
your fm 108 ---seems to me like a one-of -a - kind :-)

i think than jens and royal (UK) may know much more about
the 88//880 variations
--------------------------------------
in case your other --( perhaps better working) ? 880 arrives-
and then you decide to sell this one you got first-

a few of us may want to $$Slick you out of that one
(dibs) :-D :-D

Very nice Johnny.
You can just send it to me now, thanks!
The CS-880 and CS-88 built in 1981 had the silver face.
The CS-880 and CS-88 built in 1982 had the blue face.
I would say the silver is the rarer of the two.
Also, the CS-88 has a "mic mixer function where as the CS880 does not.
Otherwise the CS880 and CS-88 are the same unit.

mine is the j88 which is the japan version radio only goes to 90 and has the mic mixing and wireless mixing feature which the regular 880 does not have cosmetic differeance would be background color of dial and my passive radiator is black instead of silver,, output power ic there are 2 an7146 and are rated as aprox 15watts in btl mode,, the service manual shows one that has less power i belive it would only have one ic up to now i have not encountered any of those :-) :-) :-)

Wow, thanks Skippy, Jens, HardBody, and Ramon for giving some knowledge on the variations of these radios. I know I wanna get this badboy up cranking in no time flat, but have another product on my table right now.. it'll be awhile.

HardBody I would like to get those files from you, I'll PM you later if you don't see this.. Thanks man.
