Looks like the Kaboom train has gained steam. Lots of sellers trying to cash in on the $600 kaboom sales now.
I'm not criticizing the sellers for trying it, in fact more power to em, but I'm a little amazed the kabooms are selling in that range, there are to many good kabooms in circulation. This is likely the most common massed produced boombox ever.

i think one of the reasons this unit is bringing the big cash is it is the only show in town if you are a busker.
cd player for backing tracks guitar line in for your guitar or microphone.
nothing else for the price compares.
imagine in twenty years what they will go for.

Great scan Boom Shaka it fits this post perfectly.

I think the hype right now about JVC stopping production may have created a temporary bubble, just a thought. There are far more of these in circulation than any other boombox so the current prices aren't really driven so much by supply but rather by demand which will likely cool off. Again just my two cents, that and a $1.55 will get you a Tall Coffee at Starbucks. :-D
