Hi everyone, I am having issues with this unit playing cd's, when I would put the disc in I can hear it spin to load up the time/tracks info. Sometime it spins the disc, other times it shows "no disc". When it is trying to read the disc you can see the lcd display numbers go dim as if it is pulling power to spin the disc. This all happens on AC power. I know there isn't many replacement parts still available for this unit, I would like to fix it as its sounds great when it is playing.

That would be great, I am located in Mentor, OH

Trying to find the 770/775's for sale is almost impossible.

I'm pretty sure it's a 770 I have in storage but I don't remember what works, if you need specific parts let me know and I'll check it out.
This is the only 770 I've come across locally, I'm thinking they were on the expensive side for their time. :hmmm:

I had the 775 and man can that thing pound it out. The center section went kaput on me so I parted it out a long time ago. I still have the speakers in pretty mint condition. Mine did the same thing yours is currently doing. Got it repaired and it did it again 3 months later. Good luck with it in any event.

I'm really not sure where to start, I have a service manual, I'm not an technician though. I think the cd transport is going. If your interested in selling whats left of the unit you have let me know.

I remember when the 770 & 775's came out they were $499/$549, very expensive for their time, rivaling a few desktop stereos in sq and features.

Post up some pictures of the one you have. I have to dig out those speaker boxes out from my storage. The ones I have have the 4inch speaker with the 2inch tweeter ported enclosure. I remember them for bumping some serious bass!! I think I might even have the remote for it too. I didn't pay for mine. I had a sugar momma back in college  :w00t:

Hi Shutterguy!
You tried running it upside down? Press play on a CD and the flip the whole unit upside down.
This can be fixed by adjusting a pot near the laser that governs the voltage going to the lens.
Try it out and see what happens. It work for TRC-920 on his JVC!

Rock On.

Thanks Gluecifer, I will trying playing it upside down and adjusting the pot near the laser. Hopefully that fixes it, if not I can take it in and see if a shop can repair it.
