The first thing you'll notice is the quality. This is definitely a well designed boombox, almost like a work of art. The service manual is like 80 pages jam packed with circuitry so this is NOT a simple empty box. The switches are not mechanical. Rather they are momentary switches and the actual switching is all done using solid state circuitry. It's probably 1/2 the size of a GF-777. But it's just as heavy as an M90, just a tad less than a GF-777. Most have failed tape decks but due to complexity, nobody bothers to rebelt them. The speaker drivers might be small but don't let that fool you -- it sounds anything but small. The amp puts out good power, higher than M70, and a tad less than an M90, almost negligible (8wpc FTC vs 8.5 for M90). However, the specs are rated at lower distortion (5% vs. 10%) so if you dial back the other amp to where it generates 5% THD or less, the power could be lower. Of course the speaker systems are different so the entire boombox must be taken as a whole and not broken down to individual specs. The tuner is a joy to use, it's senstive, selective and has that great Pioneer LED arrow tuning guide. It has one of the best equalizers I've seen. The equalizer slider motion is smooth and has nice firm detents. The response is positive and unambiguous. The speaker grills are lighter gauge than I'd like to see, but it is what it is. It's also a beautiful boombox that really grows on you. Once you've felt, handled, listened to it, you'll quickly realize, understand and agree that its in an entirely different class than most other boombox. But the most impressive thing about this model, is that there are several plastic japanese models of this particular boombox. At least one working model with speakers. I can't name another boombox for which there exists a scale replica model.

I suggest -- get it quick!

All very nice!!!! Thanks for the detailed info on that!!!!!

I am hunting, and it will probably take a while before I come across a good one!

Will be letting you guys know!

One thing I did notice is on the 900s there are some with fine tuning and others wothout (might be US/CAN, European and/or Jap models... Who knows about that?)
